It doesn't take much to fall in love with Sheila Hicks. As one of the world's most renowned fiber artists, she gives credit to her mother, great aunts and grandmothers for influencing her textile art. She has traveled the world consulting, teaching and making her art. In the beginning of her career, Sheila was inspired by Pre-Columbian Peruvian textiles and traditional Mexican hand-weaving. As her work progressed, she began to integrate her exposure to other cultures into her enchanting fiber pieces.
Some reminders from Sheila that we like to follow:
*to say yes before no
*to seek and include rather then to ignore and exclude
*to always carry a pencil, paper and camera
